Jun 22, 2011

Monday, June 27th is National HIV Testing Day. Early HIV diagnosis is critical, so people who are infected can fully benefit from available life-saving treatments. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost 40 percent of people with HIV are not diagnosed until they already have developed AIDS. For some – that can be up to 10 years after they first became infected with the virus that causes HIV. Finding out whether you have HIV is the first step. Take that first step by locating and HIV Testing site near you. Go to HIV/AIDS Prevention & Service Providers Locator to find resources near you. To learn more about the HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, and treatment – go to HIVtest.org. You can send a text message with your ZIP code to KNOWIT (566948).
