Many older adults and family caregivers don’t understand either the new benefits available to them under the Affordable Care Act or other ways in which health care reform benefits them. Patients Aware is a national network of health care professionals working to change this situation. Supported by the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare Foundation, the National Physicians Alliance, and the Herndon Alliance, the network seeks social workers to present information at town hall meetings in their communities. A short webinar training is available to prepare volunteers for this commitment, and in-person training opportunities may also be available in some locations.
