Suzanne Daub, LCSW, Director of Behavioral Health in Primary Care for Delaware Valley Community Health, a federally qualified health center in Philadelphia, and Stacy Collins, MSW, senior practice associate for health care at NASW, were the speakers for the May NASW Lunchtime Series webinar. Ms. Daub and Ms. Collins discussed social work opportunities in integrated primary care, with a specific emphasis on behavioral health consultation (BHC), a promising model of psychosocial support in primary health care settings. Ms. Daub described her efforts to bring a BHC program to a high volume, inner-city primary care clinic, where many patients have co-occurring medical and mental health conditions, and elaborated on why their unique education and training makes social workers ideally suited for BHC positions. The webinar also discussed the Affordable Care Act’s support for integrated primary care. The 90-minute webinar course – Social Work and Primary Care: A Natural Collaboration – which includes slides, and audio and written transcripts, is available to NASW members at: http://www.socialworkers.org/ce/online/lunchtime/lCourses/frmSignUpList.aspx
1.5 CEs are available for taking the course and completing the post-test.
