“Social Work: Making a World of Difference”
Photo Competition
Be a part of this competition by entering a photo that captures the theme of Social Work: Making a World of Difference.
A panel of Social Workers will shortlist 25 photos which will be exhibited at the International IFSW Conference in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, August 16-19, 2008. There an International Panel will judge the final placings.
To enter send your photo with title and small description (no more than 15 words) to Veronica Marsman, 74 Forestglen Drive, Timberlea, Nova Scotia, Canada by the 30 June, 2008.
The photo is not to exceed 6inches X 4inches (150mmX100mm). You may submit more than one photograph to the competition, providing it is of a different subject to your previous submissions. Multiple shots of the same subject will not be accepted. Please note that IFSW reserves the right to maintain copyright of the winning picture. The author may use the picture with permission from IFSW.
Please note emailed photographs will not be accepted. Photo Competition rules and conditions of entry are attached.
First prize package is a minimum of 500 US Dollars, second prize a minimum of 250 US Dollars and third prize minimum of 100 US Dollars.

IFSW Photo Competition rules
The competition is open to people over the age of 18 years.
By submitting your photograph to the competition you declare that the photograph is your own original work, taken by you, and that you own copyright to the photograph.
All photographs entered into the competition must be suitable for publication on the IFSW website and in IFSW printed material; therefore photographs should be suitable for a social work audience.
IFSW will not accept any photos that are illegal, likely to cause offence, or in its view inappropriate.
IFSW cannot provide feedback if your photo is rejected.
It is your responsibility to ensure that all the necessary permissions and consents are obtained from any persons featured in the photograph(s). Where necessary, you must have consent from persons who are
identifiable in the photograph. If the persons are under 16 years of age, this consent must be obtained from their parent or guardian.
By entering the competition you agree to grant IFSW a non-exclusive licence to publish and use the photographs. As photographer you will retain copyrights.
Please ensure you retain the original negative or digital file for reference as it may be required to prove that it is your own work and in order to produce extra prints.
IFSW accepts no responsibility for late or lost entries due to the postal service. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
The closing date for entries is 30th June, 2008.
By submitting your photograph to the competition you agree to indemnify IFSW against all legal fees, claims, damages and other expenses that may be incurred by it as a result of a breach of any of the
Competition Rules.
Results will be announced in August, 2008 at the IFSW International Conference in Brazil.
Winners may be required to take part in post-competition publicity.
Prizes will be awarded to the winner and two runners-up.
In addition to the title and small description (no more than 15 words) you are to include the following details when you send your photograph:
• date and location of the photograph
• name
• postal address
• phone number
• e-mail address
The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
