The National Association of Social Workers supports National Voter Registration Day on September 22.

More than six million Americans did not vote in 2008 because they missed registration deadlines or did not know how to register to vote.

On September 22 volunteers, celebrities and organizations will hit the streets and social media to tell people about voter registration.

Visit the official National Voter Registration Day website to find out how you can get involved.

Recent Child Care Updates

Since the start of the new year there have been several new developments regarding child care. Childcare has been a consistent conversation among parents, social workers, child advocates, and the childcare workforce because the costs of care are rising. Without affordable child care, some parents leave the workforce, and some spend more than 7% of their income on care while paying for other necessities. Childcare is plagued with long waitlists, low compensation for workers and some rural communities have few options to access care.
