NASW Foundation a Partner in #GivingTuesday

Nov 17, 2015

GivingTuesday2#GivingTuesday on December 1, 2015 is a global day dedicated to giving back.

On that day, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving.

Anyone, anywhere can get involved in #GivingTuesday and give back in a way that is meaningful to them. From fundraising to volunteering to pro bono services, #GivingTuesday is a great way to engage your community and to become a part of a larger worldwide movement that promotes generosity.

The NASW Foundation is joining the #GivingTuesday movement to raise funds to carry out its mission of enhancing the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through programs that strengthen the social work profession.

Some of these programs include providing scholarships to social work students, providing tools to practitioners in the field, and spreading awareness of the importance of Social Workers internationally. The Foundation is proud to partner with #GivingTuesday. You can participate in #GivingTuesday and support the NASW Foundation by donating online.

Recent Child Care Updates

Since the start of the new year there have been several new developments regarding child care. Childcare has been a consistent conversation among parents, social workers, child advocates, and the childcare workforce because the costs of care are rising. Without affordable child care, some parents leave the workforce, and some spend more than 7% of their income on care while paying for other necessities. Childcare is plagued with long waitlists, low compensation for workers and some rural communities have few options to access care.
