National Healthcare Decisions Day in a Time of Pandemic

Apr 10, 2020

ConversationProjectOn April 16th each year, NASW celebrates National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD) to empower individuals to engage in advance care planning.

Social workers can support clients, family members, and friends to communicate their health care treatment preferences. Advance care planning is not only about end-of-life care—at any time, if you are not able to make health care decisions for yourself, who will speak on your behalf?

To provide support during this challenging time, organizations are offering conversation guides at no cost to health care providers and to the public. For resources, go to Respecting Choices, Proactive care planning conversation with HC Agents COVID-19 and The Conversation Project, Being Prepared in the Time of COVID-19.
