It may be April but it’s still National Social Work Month — at least in the City of Brotherly Love.
The Philadelphia/Southeast Division National Association of Social Workers Pennsylvania Chapter held an event at City Hall to honor the 60th Anniversary of NASW and National Social Work Month in March.
The event, which included a symposium on Human Trafficking, recognition of outstanding social workers, and a networking event, was held on March 31 the last day of Social Work Month.
Philadelphia Michael Nutter gave a 30-minute speech praising the profession. Since the celebration could not be scheduled until the last day of Social Work Month Nutter proclaimed April Social Work Month in Philadelphia as well.
Here is a copy of the official Social Work Month Proclamation from Mayor Nutter.
