Continuing Resolution Vote Soon

Sep 16, 2011

On September 14, the House Rules Committee filed a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government after the 2011 Fiscal Year expires on September 30th. The CR will run until November 18, 2011 and funds the government at a level of $1.043 trillion, as established by the Budget Control Act (the debt ceiling agreement). This spending level is about $7 billion – or 1.4% – less than FY2011 levels. The House and Senate will vote on the bill next week.

Recent Child Care Updates

Since the start of the new year there have been several new developments regarding child care. Childcare has been a consistent conversation among parents, social workers, child advocates, and the childcare workforce because the costs of care are rising. Without affordable child care, some parents leave the workforce, and some spend more than 7% of their income on care while paying for other necessities. Childcare is plagued with long waitlists, low compensation for workers and some rural communities have few options to access care.
