The National Consensus Project for Quality Palliative Care (NCP), of which NASW is a member, recently released the 3rd edition of the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care. These interdisciplinary guidelines can be used to develop, guide, and enhance palliative care programs across practice settings. Visit www.nationalconsensusproject.org to download the guidelines.
The guidelines emphasize the role of the interdisciplinary team in eight domains of palliative care. As such, social work plays an integral role in every domain. At the same time, the guidelines highlight the role of social work and emphasize the importance of professional education and training—specifically, a BSW or MSW.
On June 27, NASW will present a webinar addressing the NCP guidelines. Information is available on the Lunchtime Series page: www.socialworkers.org/ce/online/lunchtime/lCourses/Home.aspx
