Free FAQ document on the recently released regulations for the Parity Act

NASW is a member of the Coalition for Whole Health, which advocates for full inclusion and coverage of mental health and substance use disorder prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and recovery services in the implementation of the 2010 Affordable Care Act and the 2008 Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act.

The convener of the Coalition, the Legal Action Center (LAC), has developed an easy-to-read FAQ document on the recently released regulations for the Parity Act.

The document includes background information on the law, monitoring and enforcement issues, provider and consumer information, and other helpful resources to insure comprehensive insurance coverage for mental health and addiction disorders.

Recent Child Care Updates

Since the start of the new year there have been several new developments regarding child care. Childcare has been a consistent conversation among parents, social workers, child advocates, and the childcare workforce because the costs of care are rising. Without affordable child care, some parents leave the workforce, and some spend more than 7% of their income on care while paying for other necessities. Childcare is plagued with long waitlists, low compensation for workers and some rural communities have few options to access care.
