NASW California chapter partners with San Diego Padres

Mar 27, 2017

padresOn Saturday, April 8th at 5:40pm at Petco Park, the National Association of Social Workers California Chapter, as part of the Partnership of Professional Social Workers, will partner with the San Diego Padres to host the 5th annual Social Work Awareness game versus the San Francisco Giants.

This year’s celebration entitled, “Social Work Advocacy Day,” will honor social workers who have dedicated themselves to the social work profession and the advocacy efforts that are part of the career.

The event is preceded by the celebration of National Social Work Month in March. This year’s social work month theme as well as the theme of the game is “Social Workers Stand Up.” This campaign will educate the public about the contributions of social workers and give social workers (and their allies) tools they can use to elevate the profession.

NASW’s website, http://www.socialworkers.org, states, “Social workers stand up for millions of people every day. These include people who are experiencing devastating illnesses and mental health crises, our veterans, children, families and communities. Yet many people still misunderstand who social workers are and the invaluable contributions they bring to society.”
